Hundreds of thousands of diabetes patients and their doctors across India to benefit from GlucoMe’s real-time data collection, analysis and continuous patient/clinic communication.
Digital diabetes platform provider GlucoMe announced today that Apollo Sugar, Apollo Hospitals Group’s nationwide chain of diabetes clinics in India, has begun integrating the GlucoMe digital diabetes care solution into its recently launched national diabetes home-care program.
Under the terms of this exclusive strategic agreement, hundreds of thousands of Apollo Sugar Clinic patients will receive a “Diabetes Home-Care Kit” that includes GlucoMe’s wireless blood glucose monitor, which, among other deliverables, provides real-time data to both patient and medical professional as well as continuous communication between the clinic and its patients. The combination helps to optimize treatment plans in a timely manner, which leads to better patient outcomes.

This is how it works: The solution’s wireless blood glucose monitor automatically records blood glucose measurements and insulin intakes. Data is then seamlessly transferred to the patient’s smartphone, stored in a personal profile by the mobile app, and analyzed by GlucoMe’s cloud-based Digital Diabetes Clinic, which also provides personalized reports and real-time alerts. In addition, the solution recommends proactive treatment approaches to be considered by the attending medical professional. The result: increased patient compliance, reduced HbA1c levels, and improved overall quality of life.
India has been described as the diabetes capital of the world. More than 69 million people, or 8.7 % of the adult population in India, are living with diabetes. According to the International Diabetes Foundation, 79.4 million people in India will have diabetes by 2030.
